Youthful Swedish tenor Fredrik Strid studied at the Royal Academy of Music and at the University College of Opera in Stockholm. After the studies he was appointed to the English National Opera’s Young Singers Program and has worked as a successful freelance singer after that.
Highlights of Fredrik’s career so far includes Tony in West Side Story in Teatro alla Scala’s production on tour to Japan, his debute as Orfeo in Jacopo Peri’s Euridice at the Drottningholm Court Theatre, Lindoro in L’italiana in Algeri with the Läckö Castle Opera, Pastore and Spirito in Monteverdi’s Orfeo with the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen, Andres in Wozzek at NorrlandsOperan and Nangis in Chabrier’s Le roi malgré lui as well as Ramiro in La Cenerentola at the Grange Park Opera.
Fredrik Strid is one of the most sought after concert singers in Scandinavia, especially when it comes to the role of the Evangelist in Bach’s Passions. He has appeared in Kurt Weill’s Berlin Requiem with the Royal Flanders Philharmonic and Philippe Herreweghe in Vienna. He has appeared at the Bach Festival in Milan with Tönu Kaljuste and the Estonian Chamber Orchestra, as well as with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Harry Christophers in Bach’s Magnificat.
Fredrik Strid has been awarded The Swedish Academy of Music’s Kristina Nilsson Award and the Academy’s Early Music Award.Fredrik was the tenor soloist in Händel’s Messias together with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra in Stavanger, 17 and 18 0f december, 2013.
