Bass singer Magnus Lindegård studied for two years at the Vadstena Vocal and Piano Academy (2017–2019) followed by his bachelor’s degree at the Academy of Music in Malmö in 2022. He is a master’s student at the Malmö Opera Academy until spring 2024.
“Magnus’ personal and expressive voice together with his musicality and genuine dedication to his craft make him a unique artist who will go far.”
Melker Sörensen, director/choreographer
The aria ‘Komm, süsses Kreuz’ from the St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) (2024):
His stage debut was in the Vadstena Academy’s production of Telemann’s “Orpheus” in 2019. During his training, he has performed as a concert soloist in works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s St. John Passion and St. Matthew Passion, Haydn’s Stabat Mater and Handel’s Messiah. In 2021 he was awarded the JAA scholarship and in 2023 one of KMA’s national scholarships.
“Magnus’ thoroughness and dedication to his work is as inspiring as it is admirable”.
Andreas Eriksson Hjort, conductor
In autumn 2022, Magnus made his debut at Malmö Opera as Colline in the companies touring production of “La Bohème”. He has also appeared as a soloist in productions by Kammaropera Syd and Höör Summer Opera. In the 2023/24 season he played the Snowman in “Vinteryra” at Malmö Opera and during the summer of 2024 will appear as Doctor Druggendraft in a tour named “Maskerad.” Later this summer he will sing Christian/ Silvano in “Un ballo in maschera” at the tennis stadium in Båstad – this year’s outdoor opera happening in Sweden.
“Magnus is a natural bass and will most certainly remain so. His timbre is still youthfully dark and beautiful. His stage experience is developing and as he has an open mind he develops quickly. Magnus has great qualities, apart from his singing, as he has a great interest in singing and singing technique throughout history. I will follow Magnus’s career with joy.”
Lars Arvidson, bass singer and teacher
