Thorbjørn Gulbrandsøy jumped in last night in Scottish Opera‘s and Janáček’s “The Makropulos Affair” as male lead Albert Gregor. This is normally not a role that you just jump in for; it’s a big and complicated part and at Scottish Opera, also sung in English. But Thorbjørn came prepared. Scottish Opera is so forward looking that they employ a “shadow cast” if someone get sick. And that is what happened yesterday. All went very well!
